What we can do to help you at LA Digital Photography.
1. Make you a showcase video of your listing
2. Put it on a property address web site
3. Post your video on our YouTube Channel
4. Help you spread the work with Social Media Marketing.
OK, well let’s get started to show you how easy it is to get your own YouTube Channel going and more on SEO of your Video.
Here is a short video to show you Melissa making a YouTube video behind the camera look at the video process.
First, before uploading any video, follow these steps.
Make a YouTube channel by going to YouTube.com. Upper right corner, sign in will allow you to make your own Channel. Type in your name, birthday, a Google username, a password, your gender, an alternate email address and the security confirmation information. Check the Terms of Service box and click “Next Step.”
Google will have you verify the account information and then create the YouTube account.
Return to the YouTube home page and click the link that says “Sign In” if you are not already signed in.
Remember to name it like the name of your Real Estate company, second tag is maybe your name. Example might be Sotheby’s Exclusive Estate Property by Your Name here.
You will need a Google @ gmail.com account, make a new one with the account name same as your new YouTube channel name. Go to profile Google section now and upload your image avatar as from Google will pull this into use for YouTube Channel section, later I will show you where to change the YouTube Channel avatar.
Now before uploading any video, make a channel background to showcase your professional image.
How to Make a channel background template using local area photos, your company logo, your headshot photo that tell a story about your service. Use a paid image service like Pond5.com to get better quality images stay away from the free sites OR call Melissa to help you with local stock image or two around your market area, she can even take a headshot for you too, plus we may all ready have some stock images for sale.
To make the background template in PhotoShop use the service called Fiverr.com there you will find many people who will make you one with your supplied images and text into a PhotoShop file, PSD for $5.00. On Fiverr page find the search box and type in YouTube background, you will see many people pop up to help you. Look Professional, you can use the template up on YouTuber, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr account background pages. In Photoshop use the save as “web” into a jpeg format to upload as a background image.
Background image upload is easy on your YouTube Channel page, upload this as the background, go to My Channel, upper right click Channel Settings, then you will see Avatar and Background upload.
Now your ready to upload your first video to your New Channel. Your ready with Pro looking background, your avatar set, now upload your dot mov file.
Upload started you will need to type in some information about the video.
Title: Use the property address, city, state plus a second set of keywords or phrase like “Ocean Front Home for sale”
Typing in the Title, the city and state are very important, as buyers are international too, we have had six properties sold to international buyers in the last year directly from them finding the property “First” on YouTube, then calling the agent. Yes YouTube video does sell and market homes fast !!
Description: First thing: put your blog www.URL, your company URL, the property address URL, your Facebook fan page URL, your Twitter URL, then a comment like Hi this is Randy the listing agent for this magnificent home, please take a look at the short video to see the property, call me for your private showing at 322.444.5678, here are some of the features, etc etc, then list your Name, Company, e-mail and phone number, cell number. Please hit the like button, leave me a comment and share this video with your family and friends too.
Tag: This is the same as KeyWords that the search engine will be looking for to find your video. Think what a buyer would type into YouTube to find your video, ocean front property, pool home, horse property, gated community, boat dock, etc etc. Any sting of works put a ” ” quote around to make them show as one item to the search bot, you can list up to 120 letters in this space. A comma between words is not necessary.
Select where to put the video, people n blogs is for Real Estate videos
Your done at least with this part, uploading to your own YouTube Channel Congratulations !!
Now on the YouTube video page of the property, you can send a copy of this video to your client buyers, the sellers of course to show them and more important embed a copy of the video into your own web site, too.
YouTube will rank your video by the number of hits it gets and back links to the video. Here are a few steps to get better ranking on the YouTube web site. Example is to type in California costal homes on YouTube you will find about 10,000 plus videos showing homes for sale, others are just marketing junk, how to get your video to the first page, now that is our next segment. See our next blog post for more on Social Media Marketing your SEO Guide to YouTube for the Realtor.
Here are the basic rules for getting better placement on YouTube, it is called natural views. Sometimes a video goes viral I am sure you have seen them, something funny or an event where it get’s millions of viewers overnight. Well trust me, this is not going to happen with your Real Estate Listing Video of the property, unless your showing some movie star lounging by the pool and use that movie star keyword name to get top slot, but that is not buyers who see your video, you need people who are searching for that special property to type in the keywords about the property style or type they are looking for in the area they want, you want your video to appear first, so read on let me give you a few tips how to do this, remember our example search for California Costal Property or Costal homes in the last segment, your video will get lost in the 10,000 videos, you need to be on the first page or closer to it.
Here are the basic steps of Social Media Marketing then we will show you the details on each in a minute, the object is to get people looking at your YouTube video, click the Like button and writing a comment.
1. Go to www.onlywire.com Set up an account to send the link of your YouTube video to 50 plus Social Media web sites and collect the individual back link for each posting.
2. Go to www.Linklicious.me for sending the back links collected to Google for site index so the Google spider will find each link
3. Go to your Facebook Fan page. Set up groups in Facebook of other people with similar interest as you, gardening group, bird watching group, family group, car club group, gun ownership group you get the idea. See below what to do with these groups.
4. Go to Vagex.com this is a service that will employee real humans to view your video and write a comment if you wish all for about five to ten cents. Yea it is cheating but you need the help and this is cheap!
5. Go to MTurk.com is a similar service to have real humans view your video and write a comment even press the like button too. Again for about five cents a look.
6. Use your own personal and company e-mail list of all the Realtors and associates you know, send them a note asking to view your new Listing on YouTube.
Now the details. Only Wire will use the main 8 social media web sites for posting for free, but what you need is a full account status signed into the additional 47 web sites with user name-password. The more important item is you need all the back links for each posting for step #2, see Linklicious above.
Now you have the Only Wire back links on a data spread sheet, your ready to log into your Linklicious account to Google Index the links so the Google Spider will find them, this gives your YouTube video the better ranking with the keywords you put on the upload page, remember those words we talked about telling about the property will this is where Google will find them, associate them with your video. Google and YouTube are now owned by the same company both search engine algorithms need keywords to locate the requested item, in this case it is your YouTube video, so this is the way they, the keywords, get into the search engine the spider needs to find them, in order for the spider to find them the URL of each site and your YouTube video need to be indexed. Linklicious does the indexing !! Simple yea?
Facebook Fan page and how to set-up a business page for Facebook is in another lesson guide, stay tuned to our web site. We can help you make a custom Facebook Fan page get groups set up for you too, plus we all ready told you about getting a custom background for your Fan Page ready.
What to do if you have groups in your Fan Page all ready set-up, send them a simple note , example: Hey I just put up a new video on YouTube for my new listing take a look and remember to click the Like button and if you really like it write me a comment too. Thanks Randy. put the link here to your YouTube Video URL. You only want to send out a note to a few groups each day or so, not to red flag your account with Facebook as a spammer !!!
Getting people to see your Video will increase the video ranking. This needs to be real people, do not ever use a machine viewing company, they are out there but YouTube is not stupid this is the best way to get your video barred and your channel closed.
OK, the next best is to have 20 to 30 people view the video everyday over a week or more. To cheat and do this as not to cause a flag at YouTube, use Mturk.com as example. You can open up a task request. The workers will view your video for 30 seconds if 1 to 2 minutes long, or better for 60 seconds if 2 to 3 minutes long PLUS write a short comment. You will need to give them examples of the comments you wish, again examples are not the exact wording they are to use. Like : Wonderful house when I am in the area I will ask my Realtor to show. I liked the video I will have my Realtor call you. Great home can not wait to see the backyard views. etc, give them examples of the comments you wish. These are real people in countries that do speak English OR you can select only URL address for USA too, that takes a bit longer to get a bunch of hits going. Make the task no more than 20 per day, that means you will have only 20 people each day view, too many draws flags from YouTube as you can not expect to hit a thousand hits in one day, unreal and will get you flagged. Task is for two weeks. Now at five cents a task with written comment that is like less than four bucks over a two week period to get all most 300 views, that is good for a Real Estate Video.
Do you have a company e-mail list of other Realtors in your office, other associate Realtors you know, sent them a note to say you have a new listing and please take a peek and YES it is correct to ask them to click the Like button and leave a comment, like Great Listing Randy, I will plan on previewing it soon, or When is this coming on Tour I want to see it, or I have buyers looking for this style of home I will show it this week, are all good comments to get !!
There are other marketing tricks, as one Realtor in Australia uses real actors in his property videos, one such video got a few zillion hits on the company web site. No he did not employee a famous actor but did find one to run around the home butt naked, no joke and sold the home to boot. check this out. Showing that even a weird video will sell Real Estate even another Realtor runs around the property showing it off in a full Mascot Chicken suit, don’t you just love them Aussies.
You can see more professional Videos from them at http://www.platinumhd.tv These guys are the pro’s. The sellers pay for videos and marketing in other countries not like the state where this falls on the shoulders of the Realtor to market the home on the Realtors dime. The budget for most video shoots down under are $3500 on the low side to $15,000 for a full production with actors over several day shoot with all the post work too. Check out Platinum HD they are the gold standard for marketing Real Estate Videos. We too can help you should you find that special property that need more than a YouTube short video, we have a full production company crews available, just ask Director Melissa to make you the Star, ready on set, quite everyone, settle settle, now lights, sound, camera rolling, action for your next video.
We do not wish to leave you in the cold, here is a normal Real Estate Video from Platinum, a Gold Gem example of their great work, we can make this happen for your Estate Listing too, just ask Melissa for details.

Hello, to all. This is just a note that Exposure Room a place where a lot of us video folks posted and hosted our Video work is not longer in service. Maybe they will come back so I am leaving the link in our menu bar for now.
This means about 30 plus or more of our DEMO REELS are not live. We are in the process of getting them re-uploaded to other services beyond the Viemo and YouTuber. Exposure Room we will miss you !! They had great quality of HD Video delivery which linked easy to our blogs.
Look for an update soon for all our Demo Reels posted once again, sorry. If you need to see the current REEL, send me a note I will send you a dot MOV file via YouSendit.
Image of a Drone with a pair of HellFire missiles attached is what the FAA thinks we are flying to take aerial photography with, hum, this seems to be the perception with a lot of our Congress too, public thinking we are spying on them, pilots think we are in the way of them landing or flying, all are wrong. RC Helicopters & air craft are flown for aerial photography & video work at less than 200 feet above the ground always in sight of the operator, most of the aerials for Realtors less than a hundred feet, video for film industry more like 50 feet. Misconception of and understanding of our industry has been the issue. So for now, the image above is what they have in mind when thinking of us, Aerial Photography & Aerial Video companies !!
The U.S. Senate late Monday joined the House in passing the first FAA Reauthorization Bill called “FAA Modernization and Reform Act of 2012“. Which both the Senate & House included a provision aimed at protecting the RC aviation flights from regulations that in my opinion are unnecessary, restrictive and over reaching !! to put it mildly. The bill is expected to signed into law.
FAA has told two reporters, Nick Wingfield New York Times and Alan Levin a reporter for Bloomberg Businessweek whom I personally have spoken with, their interviews with staff at the FAA told them that the new FAA RC guidelines are coming in Spring 2012. FAA will issue a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking [NPRM] for public comment at which time we can see “how to comply” with the new FAA guidelines and be flying again ourselves as mi6 films RC helicopters for film industry & Realtors soon. FAA spokes person told the Bloomberg reporter the new pending regulations for commercial use of RC drones, will be limited “when licensed”, to only flying in non-populated areas. This does not sound good, especially coming from an investigative reporter speaking directly with staff this week at the FAA in Washington D.C., whom did not wish to be identified per Alan.
Here is the full story on our company mi6films this weekend edition of Bloomberg Businssweek, tells a short side of the story, but we are thankful for any additional attention this can bring, again so we can fly again for “all our loyal clients” safely and within the law’s of USA national air space.
One more story posted this week from the Academy of Model Aeronautics tells the FAA story from a different point of view, list the Congress members who are helping get us a guideline regulation for flying RC Helicopters.
Plenty more on this subject, just Google FAA RC Helicopters or FAA Drones or FAA Modernization Act 2012, read way too much on this subject.
RECAP: All we wish is the FAA have a guideline regulation so we may comply, get flying again, plain and simple.
Recently the CAR, CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS, issued a warning the Real Estate Agents in the use of RC Helicopters and Drone Aircraft in taking aerial photography of their listings. That the FAA and the LAPD have warnings too.
I wish to correct a few miss guided statements made with true facts that they have made in the recent press release. The full press release is shown below from CAR to the Realtors of Los Angeles.
This article states that the LA film Commission “requires” a FILM PERMIT for use of an aircraft to take video or still images of a home for sale is just silly and in fact false. I personally have been in the LA Film Commissions office this past spring and requested to know if we were taking aerial images of a home do we need a film permit, the answer was NO ! To further this I got a phone call yesterday from a member of the Beverly Hills Board of Realtors, asking the same question, his call yesterday to the LA Film Commission, the answer was NO. Think about it, your child’s birthday party in your private backyard, you want to take photos, or hire a professional photographer to take photos, according to this logic you will need a “Film Permit” from LA.. again just silly.
When we were using RC Helicopters for Real Estate Aerial Photography last year, they were taken off from private property, elevation about 50 to 90 feet, no where near any LAPD Helicopter or air traffic,, these facts are again just silly to assume. They said photography for commercial use needs a still image permit? Well then “every home” now on the MLS most all the images were taken by a Professional Photographer, then again by their logic every home listing on the MLS would require a Film Permit from LA Film Commission, again just silly.
mi6 films does fly a full size Robinson R-44 Helicopter for all your future Aerial Photography needs, give us a call.
Brought to you by the CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®.
LAPD Warning Against Hiring Unmanned Aircraft Operators for Aerial Photos
Los Angeles authorities have asked C.A.R. to communicate this warning to REALTORS® who hire unmanned aircraft operators to take aerial photographs for marketing high-end properties. Using these devices (also known as drones) for flight in the air with no onboard pilot may violate, among other things, the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) policy on unmanned aircrafts, and Los Angeles’s local ordinance requiring permits for filming commercial motion pictures and still photographs.
The Los Angeles Police Department’s (LAPD) investigation has apparently revealed that aerial photos where unmanned aircraft were observed have appeared on certain real estate sales websites. According to FilmL.A., the LAPD Air Division has issued this warning as it intends to prosecute violators in the near future. FilmL.A. is a public benefit company created by the City and County of Los Angeles to manage film permit activity and related issues.
Under the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)’s current policy, no one can operate an unmanned aircraft in the National Airspace System without specific authority. Operators who wish to fly an unmanned aircraft for civil use must obtain an FAA experimental airworthiness certificate, which will not be issued to an unmanned aircraft used for compensation or hire. Although the FAA allows hobbyists to fly model airplanes for recreational purposes under specific guidelines, that authority does not extend to operators flying unmanned aircraft for business purposes. More information is available from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Notice on Unmanned Aircraft Operations and the FAA’s policy.
The LAPD this week came out with a warning to Real Estate Agents in the Los Angeles area about the use of RC Helicopters and drone aircraft flying to take aerial photography of higher end homes for sale. The Realtors often use these aerial photos to showcase their listing of multi million dollar homes. Mi6films does NOT fly small RC Helicopters or drones anymore after a request from the FAA last year to stop flying our RC Helicopter until new FAA regulations come out on how to operate the Drone RC Helicopters safely in the national air space.
The small RC Helicopters unlike many news articles reflect for Real Estate are flown on “private property” are at an elevation of 50 to 90 feet above the home, no where need any airport, air traffic flying overhead, or any LAPD full size helicopter which has to maintain minimum FAA regulations 400 feet elevation above the ground. There is no chance even of an RC Helicopter hitting a full size LAPD helicopter or even a jet landing at LAX, beyond reasonable to think this could happen.
mi6 films does fly a full size Robinson R-44 Helicopter out of John Wayne Orange County airport for taking all future Real Estate aerial photography, glad to continue to help our Realtor clients in OC & LA with aerial photography of their listings until the FAA has rules in place to allow the use of RC Helicopters and drone aircraft to fly again.
The Los Angeles Police Department is warning real estate agents not to use images of properties taken from unmanned aircraft, saying the flying drones pose a potential safety hazard and could violate federal aviation policy.
The warning was issued this week after officers saw a television news report showing a basketball-sized object with multiple rotors hovering over an expansive Westside residence.
“We are just trying to inform the public to ensure that before hiring these companies to operate these aircraft in federal airspace, that they are abiding by the federal regulations to ensure safety,” said police Sgt. George Gonzalez.
Drones can range from as small as model airplanes built by hobbyists to as large as a commercial jet. Nationally, there has been an intense and growing debate about the safety of allowing drones to operate in airspace used by passenger aircraft.
Federal regulations prohibit the operation of unmanned aircraft in U.S airspace without specific permission, though the rules do allow hobbyists to fly model planes in designated areas.
Real estate agents have been posting aerial photos and video of homes for sale in the Los Angeles area, according to the LAPD. The pictures have been taken from several hundred feet off the ground in the city’s crowded airspace — an altitude at which police helicopters often fly.
Seeking to maintain the safety of their pilots as well as people on the ground, LAPD officials are first notifying those who are in the market for photos taken by drones “so they make informed decisions and don’t hurt anybody,” Gonzalez said.
The LAPD knows who was operating the “spider-like” drone shown on TV, but hasn’t yet contacted the operator, Gonzalez said.
Hello, this is Russell again, after many many many phone call’s and e-mail, thank you to all. Here are the people whom have decided to stop all “commercial use” of an RC HELICOPTER or RC AIRCRAFT from flight anywhere in the USA, at any altitude. Does not matter we maybe in a controlled space, on a film location set for a movie, flying at 40 feet above the grown, no where near an airport, NO FLIGHT OF ANY TYPE ANY WHERE, is the answer we got.
As I stated in a prior blog post, I have had several very long phone conversations with the folks at FAA in Washington DC & Southern California field office there is no budge in the conditions of RC for aerial photography , aerial video no matter how small scale. The USA air-space is closed to all RC ‘s for any commercial use.
You want to hear it for yourself, give these folks a phone call, e-mail them, let them know how you feel about this, here are the links with phone numbers an e-mail address. This is a copy of the actual letter sent to our company, too.
Make your voice heard, write a note today: This is in my personal opinion a restriction of my freedoms in the USA to be in business !!!
Thank you to all for your support.
LETTER BELOW FROM THE FAA TO OUR COMPANY
I would appreciate the opportunity to speak with the person or persons in
your organization who oversee your unmanned aircraft operation. As a
courtesy to you and your organization, I would like to discuss the existing
prohibition of commercial operations of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) in
the U.S. national airspace as well as the rule making efforts the FAA is
currently undertaking to provide for such operations in the future.
Please respond within 5 business days.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Lastly, contact the FAA representative directly who is in-charge (so to speak) about this issue and hear about it from the horses mouth:
We are no longer permitted to fly in the USA due to a new FAA pending rule change aimed at commercial use of RC Helicopters till they decide on how to issue permits to use them in the USA the FAA has decided to close all operations of all Commercial use of any RC aircraft & RC helicopters in aerial photography businesses, aerail video PERIOD.
Our phone calls with them over the past few day at the FAA office in Washington DC, they will not be issuing permits till sometime in 2013.
We are flying INTERNATIONALLY, Canada, South America & Europe is still open, we do and have flown in this countries over the past year, your project production is in these countries, we can help.
USA, we have a “real” R-44 Helicopter available, rates start at $9500. per day with pilot, for video film productions within the USA.
Cheers, till permited within the USA airspace, sometime in 2013. mi6films staff
This summer 2011 Mi6 Films RC Helicopter filmed-video for Motor Trend Magazine WORLDS GREATEST DRAG RACE the full story images and YouTube video links are below. We wish to thank the director from Motor Trend Mike Suggett for having us fly the video for this production and all the staff of Motor Trend for letting us be part of this historic day in OC [Orange County California] at the El Toro Marine Air Base landing strip, where this was filmed. Here is the story of this day as told by Jonny Lieberman of Motor Trend.
“What’s your anecdote going to be?” I played dumb, so our Ferrari-obsessed associate photo editor Mike Shaffer continued, “You always start your stories with some sort of anecdote. What’s it going to be for Best Driver’s Car?” Well, young Shaffer, how’s this for an anecdote: Over the course of six days in June, I had the keys to 82 cylinders, more than 5000 horsepower, and 4000 lb-ft of torque split between 11 performance cars worth more than $1.5 million. Most folks would happily give up a limb just to sit in and sniff the interior of any one of these monsters.
